With a growing family, Susie and Pablo Davidson knew it wouldn’t be long before they’d need more space to accommodate them all. ‘I adored our last home, which was also a Victorian property, but it was tall and skinny with a tiny garden, ’ says Susie. ‘Although we loved it, with two little girls, we knew it was time to spread our wings. ’
At the top of their wish list for a new next property was proximity to the girls’ school and more space, both inside and out, particularly for the girls and the family dog, Tottie. ‘Equally importantly, I wanted the chance to renovate something from the ground up and if possible (just as I had with my previous home) return an older house to its former glory, ’ she says.
The place they found was pretty much perfect for them. ‘It’s on a lovely light street and the garden faces west, so I knew it would be great for parties and barbecues, ’ says Susie. ‘Also, it had a garage to the side which I knew (from scanning the local planning applications at the council) could be converted to a playroom and then study for the girls when they get a bit older. I also discovered that above this playroom, we’d be able to build a “his ’n’ hers” bathroom, which is something that I have always coveted!’ says Susie.
